Medical device manufacturer, Sage, has issued a medical device safety alert concerning its
CHG cloth product [Product code: (1) 9601-X and (2) 9602-X; Lot numbers: (1) 48339, 49019, 45445; (2) 46269, 46854, 47582, 48999, 49716, 50703, 51611, 52800 and 53093].
The product recall is being initiated due to potential product contamination with Burkholderia cepacia. Topical administration of a product with presence of microbial contamination may cause serious infections in immuno-compromised persons and in hospitalised patients, as well as certain other patient groups.
According to the local supplier, the affected products are distributed in Hong Kong.
