Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA), Australia, has issued a medical device safety alert concerning Rite Aid Mini Digital Temple Touch Thermometer [Lot Number: 5216], manufactured by Medisim Ltd.
According to the manufacturer, the battery compartment on the thermometer is not adequately secured, allowing unintentional access to the button battery inside. In the event a young child gains access to the button batteries themselves and ingests them, they may suffer internal burns injuries, that may result in a serious injury and as a worst case scenario even death. Furthermore, access to these batteries may pose a choking hazard to young children.
The affected consumers are requested immediately stop using the thermometer. Product recall is on-going.
