Medical device manufacturer, Medtronic, has issued a medical device safety alert concerning its McGRATH X3 disposable laryngoscope blades. The affected devices are identified as follow:
According to the manufacturer, this voluntary action is being conducted following reports from customers noting that certain McGRATH X3 disposable laryngoscope blades did not fit the McGRATH MAC video laryngoscope handle or were tight fitting on the handles which may result in a change in optical performance as displayed on the video screen. Reporting practitioners completed the procedures by using an alternate device. This fit issue may result in a delay of treatment while an alternate device is obtained. No patient injuries have been associated with this issue.
Affected users are requested to dispose the affected products according to their institution's disposal procedures. Product recall is on-going.
According to the local supplier, the affected products are distributed in Hong Kong.
